建盏是黑瓷的代表，是宋朝皇室御用茶具，宋代八大名瓷之一，因产地为宋朝建宁府，故名建盏。

Jianzhuang is the representative of black porcelain, the imperial tea set of Song Dynasty, one of the eight famous porcelain of Song Dynasty, because its origin is Jianning Palace of Song Dynasty, so Jianzhuang is named.

建盏都用正烧，故口沿釉层较薄，而器内底聚釉较厚；外壁往往施半釉，以避免在烧窑中底部产生粘窑。

建盏表面采用高矿物石灰釉，富含铁质，长期使用可软化水质，有益健康，因而，品茶过程中，建盏斑纹主要有曜变、鹧鸪斑、油滴、兔毫等，这些建盏的名称也是根据纹饰命名的。不同的温度，不同的窑位，这是人工难以控制的，也就导致烧制过程的不可控，窑变效果就丰富，加上氧化铁含量高的坯体难以承受高温变化，一只完美无瑕的建盏是很难的。

釉在高温环境下为液态，极易流动，因此造成挂釉现象，俗称“釉泪”、“釉滴珠”。挂釉现象往往会使得一些建盏更具个性。建盏胎质含铁量较高所致，因而截面色黑或灰黑、黑褐；胎骨厚实坚硬，叩之有金属声，俗称“铁胎”，建盏胎体厚重；胎内蕴含细小气孔，利于茶汤的保温。
