军政府造四川铜币是辛亥革命时期的产物。1911年12月发生“成都叛乱”,以尹昌衡、罗纶为正副都督的四川军政府取代了建设仅12天的大汉四川军政府。新的四川军政府建设之初即面临着需用日繁、度支日绌的财政困窘时势。军政府迅速接受了四川成都造币厂,决议铸造“四川铜币”以应急。民国元年（1912年）4月,四川成都造币厂奉四川军政府之命,开模铸造“四川铜币”（也称“汉”字铜元）。

 

此组四川铜币正面中央珠圈内镌“四川铜币”四个字，四个字中间镌一朵精美的芙蓉花，象征蓉城成都。珠圈外上端镌“军政府造”四个字，左右两侧各镌一个四瓣花星，铜币背面中央圆圈内镌一个篆文“汉”字，代表了新政府“大汉”的意思，具有反清意义。四川铜币一直被收藏家们视作无价之宝。地域性政权发行货币的时间也相当短，加上流通地域狭小，所铸货币价值不菲。另外，由于改行纸钞，铜币发行量较少，故价格也较高。
