在我国神话传说中，道教中有八仙之说，分别是铁拐李、汉钟离、张果老、蓝采和、何仙姑、吕洞宾、韩湘子、曹国舅。关于八仙的故事流传甚广，尤其是“八仙过海，各显神通”的传说几乎家喻户晓，脍炙人口。历史上，很多文学、戏剧中融入了八仙的传说，以八仙为素材的艺术作品亦层出不穷，陶瓷、绘画、竹刻、刺绣、木雕以及文房器具上屡屡出现，赏心悦目，使八仙的故事得以绵延传承并深入人心。

此大清乾隆年制八仙人物故事碗（一对），口径为15cm，底径为6.5cm，高8cm，碗内外壁绘制八仙道教人物故事，大家都知道，八仙一般是指铁拐李、汉钟离、张果老、蓝采和、何仙姑、吕洞宾、韩湘子、曹国舅八位神仙。传说中，八仙各有不同的法器，铁拐 李有铁杖及葫芦，汉钟离有芭蕉扇，张果老有纸叠驴，蓝采和有花篮，何仙姑有莲花，吕洞宾有长剑，韩湘子有横笛，曹国舅有玉板，他们随身携带的法器各有妙用。碗底绘制有龙凤，寓意龙凤呈祥，在中国传统观念中，龙和凤代表着吉祥如意，龙凤一起使用多表示喜庆之事。
