送子观音

“送子观音”俗称“送子娘娘”，是抱着一个男孩的妇女形象。旧时中国人，尤其是妇女，崇拜佛教中的观音，在很大程度上是因为相信观音能够送子。观音在佛教中并不是最高神，但由于有了送子功能，其在中国的影响要比佛祖释迦牟尼大得多。可以说，平常百姓几乎没有不知道观音的，但知道释迦牟尼的却并不很多。观音的寺庙遍布中国，观音的塑像，无论是被当作工艺品，还是被当作尊神，也常见于普通人家。观音是随着佛教而进入中国的。观音进入中国后，受到中国文化的巨大影响，发生了一连串的变化。
