关金券最初的发行目标只是为进口商提供纳税的便利，并不在市面流通。由于其与外国货币直接挂靠，币值相对稳定，所以关金直接交税的比例逐年上升。1942年4月，国民政府财政部规定以关金一元折合法币二十元的比价，与法币并行流通。这在一定程度上是国民政府变相增发法币大钞，关金券公开地行使流通功能，变成真正的纸币。

1948年8月19日，国民党政府颁布“财政经济紧急处分令”，实行所谓“币制改革”，宣布废除法币和关金券，发行金圆券，并以1金圆券兑换15万关金券的比率收兑关金券。同年11月21日停止收兑，关金券正式作废。而下图是小编有幸见到的其中一张。

关金券流通17年半，期间正式发行的关金券种类有47种，未发行的有4种。由于国民政府严重财政危机，恶性通货膨胀迫使关金券进入流通领域，最终不但没有稳定金融，反而成为废纸一张。因此当时大量关金券被人们弃之，然后在历史长河中大量消失，因此此券在目前收藏市场上属于“一票难求”，具有重要的历史意义、研究价值和收藏价值！
