藏品简介：玉必有工，工必有意，意必吉祥，“如意”一词出于印度梵语“阿娜律”。几千年来，玉作为一种吉祥物，它被人们赋予了吉祥如意的美好寓意。在清朝时期，“如意”在宫廷中得到了最广泛的应用。如皇帝登极大典上，主管礼仪的臣下必敬献一柄“如意”，以祝政通人和，新政顺利；在皇帝会见外国使臣时，也要馈赠“如意”，以示缔结两国友好，国泰民安。在帝后、嫔妃的寝室中均有“如意”，以颐神养性，兆示吉安；特别是在帝后大婚，及至宫中万寿，中秋元旦时节，都需要臣下敬献数量不少的“如意”，以寓意帝后平安大吉，福星高照。可见，一件小小的“如意”，是集宫廷礼仪、民间往来、陈设赏玩为一体的珍贵之物。
