民国三年(1914年)，北洋军阀政府正式铸造袁世凯头像银币，因币上铸有袁世凯侧身头像，故民间俗称“袁大头”。“袁大头”银币共有四种面值：壹圆、中圆(五角)、贰角、壹角，其中最常见的为壹圆袁大头，贰角袁大头则不多见，传世甚罕。

此枚中华民国三年袁大头贰角，正面为袁世凯五分侧面像，八字胡，上列“中华民国三年”，“年”字后没有“造”字，其他年版都在“年”字后面有一“造”字，“民”字中有一“点”，而其他年版民字则无“点”。钱背中心为“贰角”二字，以嘉禾纹饰环绕，上环“每五枚当一圆”六字。
