黑便士红便士蓝便士英国“黑便士”邮票是世界上第一枚邮票，发明者是英国人罗兰·希尔（世界邮票之父），启用于1840年5月6日，这一天后来被定为邮票诞生日。“黑便士”在印刷上采用了当时欧美国家印制钞票时已普遍采用的最先进的雕刻版印刷工艺，并使用了难以仿造的皇冠水印纸。

邮票图案为维多利亚女王肖像，图案顶部中间有“Postage"(邮资）字样，左右两角是交叉十字图形，底部中间是面值“ONE PENNY”（1便士），以黑色为基调，故称为“黑便士”。同期启用的还有“蓝便士”，面值2便士的蓝色邮票。后来英国邮政发现在黑色邮票上盖黑色邮戳太不明显，于是改用红色印刷，这样就出现了“红便士”（Penny Red）.
