磁州窑是中国传统制瓷工艺的珍品，中国古代北方最大的民窑体系，也是著名的民间瓷窑，有“南有景德，北有彭城”之说。磁州窑创烧于北宋中期，并达到鼎盛，南宋、元明清仍有延续。窑址在今河北省邯郸市峰峰矿区的彭城镇和磁县的观台镇一带，磁县宋代叫磁州，故名。

Cizhou kiln is a treasure of Chinese traditional ceramic technology. It is the largest folk kiln system in the north of ancient China. It is also a famous folk kiln. It is said that there is Jingde in the South and Pengcheng in the north. Cizhou kiln was created and burned in the middle of the Northern Song Dynasty, and reached its peak. It continued in the Southern Song Dynasty, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. The kiln site is located in Pengcheng Town, Fengfeng Mining Area, Handan City, Hebei Province, and Guantai Town, Cixian County, which was named Cizhou in Song Dynasty.

磁州窑的匠师们吸收了传统的水墨画和书法艺术的技法，创造了具有水墨画风的白地黑绘装饰艺术，开启了中国瓷器彩绘装饰的先河。

The craftsmen of Cizhou kiln absorbed the traditional techniques of ink painting and calligraphy, created the decorative art of white and black painting with ink painting style, and opened the pioneer of Chinese porcelain decoration.

磁州窑以生产白釉黑彩瓷器著称于世，黑白对比，强烈鲜明，图案十分醒目，刻、划、剔、填彩兼用，并且创造性地将中国绘画的技法，以图案的构成形式，巧妙而生动地绘制在瓷器上，具有引人入胜的艺术魅力。它开创了我国瓷器绘画装饰的新途径，同时也为宋以后景德镇青花及彩绘瓷器的大发展奠定了基础。

Cizhou kiln is famous for producing white glaze and black-color porcelain. The black-white contrast is strong and distinct. The design is very striking. It can carve, scribe, pick and fill both colors. It also creatively draws the techniques of Chinese painting on the porcelain in the form of patterns, which is skillful and vivid, with attractive artistic charm. It opened up a new way of decoration of China's porcelain painting, but also laid the foundation for the great development of Jingdezhen blue and white and painted porcelain after the Song Dynasty.

磁州窑在中国陶瓷发展史上的独特贡献有两点：其一是白地黑褐彩绘，把传统的书画艺术与制瓷工艺结合在一起；其二是把诗词、谚语、警句和文学作品作为纹饰，这是很有历史价值的文化遗产。现藏于广州博物馆的北宋磁州窑“枕赋”铭长方形枕，现藏于广东省博物馆的元磁州窑白地赫彩西游记方型枕就是这方面的代表作。

The unique contribution of Cizhou kiln in the history of Chinese ceramics development has two points: one is white ground black-brown color painting, which combines traditional painting and calligraphy with ceramic making technology; the other is the decoration of poems, proverbs, epigrams and literary works, which is a cultural heritage of great historical value. The rectangular pillow with the inscription "Pillow Fu" in Cizhou Kiln of the Northern Song Dynasty, which is now hidden in Guangzhou Museum, and the square pillow of Baidi Hecai Journey to the West of YuanCizhou Kiln, which is now hidden in Guangdong Museum, are representative works in this respect.

磁州窑的制品构图严谨，典雅古朴，形象生动活泼，情趣盎然，展现了宋元时期的社会风俗，为研究这个时期的民间绘画等艺术提供了丰富的资料。
