江南省设于清朝顺治二年(1645年)，省府位于江宁(现在的上海)。清代的江南省前身是明朝的南直隶江南省，范围大致相当于今天的江苏省、上海市和安徽省。康熙六年(1667年)清廷撤江南省，分设江苏和安徽两个省。上海造币厂将其铸造的银币标明“江南省造”，是因为当时苏州已经有一个专铸机制铜元的造币厂，其铸造的铜元均标明“江苏省造”。为避免混淆，上海造币厂将其铸造的银币标明“江南省造”。系我国货币史上有名无实的省份银币。

江南省造甲辰光绪元宝库平七钱二分银币，南京造币厂于光绪三十年(1904年)铸造。银币正面中珠圈内镌满汉文“光绪元宝”四字，上方铭文为“江南省造”，下方为“库平七钱二分”，在“江南省造”的两边，右“甲”左“辰”是记年。“甲”字上侧镌英文“CH”、“辰”字上侧镌英文“HAH”字样，中间的珠圈由99个小点组成。背面中心是一条细长七尾飞龙,龙尾后面有祥云云彩，这是一个新设计的背面，龙也是一条新设计的龙。在龙纹饰四周上下方为英文，左右各一个玫瑰花饰。此枚光绪元宝江南省造甲辰品相佳，包浆明显，甚是罕见，具有极大的收藏价值，同时现在的市场价格也比较高。
