釉里红是我国的传统釉下彩装饰之一，它是用铜作着色剂的色料在坯体上描绘各种纹样，然后施透明釉经过高温还原气氛烧成，在釉里透出红色的纹样，故称“釉里红”。 因烧成合格品很困难，故其产品极为名贵。

Under-glaze red is one of the traditional under-glaze decoration in China. 釉里红颜料只有涂布达到一定厚度才能呈红色，而且一旦呈色，颜色都比较浓，因此它不能产生颜色深浅的层次变化。青花的呈色，类似于水墨画，随着颜料涂布厚度的变化，可以产生由淡到浓的各种颜色效果。因此，青花弥补了釉里红呈色层次变化的不足，而釉里红则丰富了青花瓷的色彩。

In-glaze red pigment can be red only when it is coated to a certain thickness, and once it is colored, the color is relatively thick, so it can not produce hierarchical changes in color depth. The color rendering of blue and white is similar to ink painting. With the change of pigment coating thickness, it can produce various color effects from light to thick. Therefore, blue and white make up for the deficiency of the color level change of underglaze red, while underglaze red enriches the color of blue and white porcelain.

釉里红瓷具有非常高的欣赏价值、收藏价值及历史价值，历来受到全世界人民的喜爱。纵观近二十年以来，古瓷珍品收藏无不注重流传有绪，尤以釉里红瓷器为甚。在近几年收藏界，在2011年中国古瓷器专场上，以2415万成交青花釉里红团花纹摇铃尊(一对)，今年一只青花釉里红螭虎耳方口扁瓶在香港春拍会上拍出6325万港元。青花釉里红瓷以其独特的风格深受收藏爱好者的喜爱，价格涨势如火如荼，涨幅几乎难以估算。
