粉彩瓷创烧于清代康熙晚期。它是在康熙五彩瓷基础上,受珐琅彩制作工艺影响而发明的一种釉上彩工艺,由于色调淡雅和有粉润之美,故而称为“粉彩”。乾隆时的粉彩甚为盛行,在彩瓷领域中,已取代了五彩,趋于主导地位。乾隆粉彩装饰的图案追求华丽繁缛的风格,题材内容广泛,在传统的花卉、禽鸟、山水、人物的基础上,增加了大量寓意福禄寿、太平盛世、伦理道德等方面的内容,很多纹饰运用谐音来表达吉祥的祝愿,脍炙人口。乾隆朝除了白地绘份彩外,还有色地粉彩或色地开光中绘粉彩等品种。乾隆朝粉彩的创新品种是在黄、绿、红、粉、蓝等色地上用极细的工具轧出缠枝忍冬或缠枝蔓草等延绵不断的纹饰,且多和开光一起使用,人称轧道开光。这一工艺的出现,将粉彩推上了更加富丽繁缛的顶峰,一直延续到民国。

They were often used together with Kaiguang, which was called "open road rolling". The emergence of this technology pushed the pastel to a more colorful peak, which lasted until the Republic of China.

此件粉彩仕女纹荷花口瓶为清末明初时期所制,造型端庄俊秀,雅致大方。整器形制规整,束径,口部外撇,呈荷叶荷花状,弧度恰到好处,整个颈部线条内敛柔美。圈足,瓶背面的字体工整舒朗,飘逸洒脱。粉彩瓶胎薄体轻,通体施白釉,釉色洁白温润,光滑细腻。外壁正面纹饰为侍女纹,以粉彩勾画,技艺娴熟,画面生动。一些青石,一棵大树,一位侍女,一个窗户,树阴底下,人物喜笑颜开,生动和谐,恬静自然。侍女身着长裙,手拿蒲扇,望向远方,意境悠远。此类创作风格具有典型的晚清工艺特点,时代特征及其鲜明。综合观之,该粉彩仕女纹荷花口瓶造型独特,工艺考究严谨,包浆厚重,收藏价值较高。
