陶艺中的坯体与釉，如果在配方与烧成上设计不当，两者膨胀系数差异过大，常会造成釉面裂纹。然而刻意造成釉面裂纹，也别有一番风味，在陶艺上我们称之为冰裂釉。早在宋代，浙江龙泉窑（哥窑）作为中国宋代五大名窑之一，其就生产了釉面布满龟裂的纹片（通常称之为“开片”），是龙泉哥窑产品独有的装饰风格，所产带有裂纹青瓷器皿为世所珍。哥窑产品釉面出现裂纹，实际上是一种缺陷，却被制瓷工匠巧妙地用来为装饰纹，而且效果奇特、精美绝伦，犹如浑然天成。据史料记载，“冰裂纹”在龙泉哥窑产品的各种纹片中排名首位，素有“纹是冰裂为上”的美誉。

The cracks on the glaze surface of Ge kiln products are actually a kind of defect, but they are skillfully used as decorative patterns by porcelain craftsmen, and the effect is unique and exquisite, as if it were formed by nature. According to historical records, "ice crack" ranks first among all kinds of patterns of Longquan Ge kiln products, known as "ice crack is the top".

“冰裂釉”与裂纹釉不同，其差异在于前者为多层次裂纹，而后者为单层次。由于“多层次裂纹”在技术上的困难度，可想而知。“冰裂釉”最大的特点在多层次的立体结构裂纹，造成犹如玫瑰花瓣般的层面，加上釉色的变化，让人爱不释手，欲看穿方休。冰裂纹釉在宋代官釉、哥釉、汝釉、龙泉釉等都有局部的出现，对冰裂纹釉的赞扬更是不绝于耳，在《陶雅》中的“宋官窑者绝不经见，世人罕有识之者。”来赞美宋代官窑，在赞美宋代官窑的前提下冰裂纹釉有了“哥窑品格，纹取冰裂为上”的美誉，可见冰裂纹哥釉在瓷器中的地位是举足轻重的，自然会被视作稀世珍宝而待之。

The praise for the ice crack glaze is endless. In Tao ya, it is said that "the official kilns of Song Dynasty are never seen, and the people in the world seldom know it." On the premise of praising the official kilns of the Song Dynasty, the ice cracked glaze has the reputation of "Ge kiln character, the pattern is based on the ice crack". It can be seen that the ice crack glaze plays an important role in the porcelain and will naturally be treated as a rare treasure.
